About Slippery Elm

Slippery Elm powder is the dried and powdered mucilaginous inner bark of the Ulmus rubra, the slippery elm (or red elm), a species of elm native to eastern North America,

This powder has demulcents properties, which means is a soothing agent that forms a calming film over a mucous membrane, relieving minor pain and inflammation of the membrane Demulcents are sometimes referred to as mucoprotective agents.

These Slippery Elm are available in a range of sizes, all packed in Plastic Free packaging. We use plant-based cellulose bags for these products. Cellulose Plastic Free packaging is biodegradable, simply scrunch up to create air pockets and add to your home compost. It will take around 1-2 months to biodegrade. Or it can be added to general waste, it will break down into vegetable matter.

This is a perfect invalid food - mix with warm boiled water to the desired consistency and you have a very nutitious, easy to digest drink that most people can cope with.
